Overview of MathFlow 1.7 Upgrade
Design Science MathFlow™ 1.7 is required for Arbortext Editor 5.3
and XMetaL 5.0.
What's new in MathFlow 1.7?
Arbortext specific:
MathFlow Composer introduces two powerful font
configuration facilities, that ensure consistent use of fonts and characters
from editing, through composition, to PDF.
- MathFlow Composer's knowledge of
available font characters is vastly improved
- Users can now define the exact fonts
MathFlow Composer is to use, in order of preference
XMetaL specific:
- Consolidated MathFlow functionality in a
single MathFlow menu item
- Added a preference on whether to use Fast
Equation Rendering
For Arbortext and XMetaL:
- Updated the MathML parser to ignore a
list of attributes (the "allowed attributes") when parsing MathML. The
allowed attributes will be left untouched and preserved. This will allow the
MathFlow Editor to integrate with content management systems that tag each
XML node (including MathML).
- For concurrent licenses, a new License
Server Failover feature is available which will allow a backup license
server to be used in the event the main license server goes down.
- The MathFlow code base has been converted
to Swing in anticipation of a major UI redesign in MathFlow 2.0.
- Assorted bugs have been fixed
UI Improvements:
- New mini toolbar, which includes editing
buttons formerly in the Toolbox palette and Style selection
- New edit option to group or ungroup
characters
- Added a UI for <menclose>
- Added a UI to customize the
auto-recognize function list
- Improved the Insert Symbol dialog
- Improved the Styles dialog
- Added Ctrl-Z as a shortcut for Undo
- Added keyboard mnemonics for Menus
- Added "Beveled", "Numerator Alignment", and "Denominator Alignment"
properties to the Layout Properties dialog for fractions
- Added new buttons to the toolbar
palettes:
- Degree symbol to the Operator
Palette
- Underbar accent to the Accent
Palette
- Curly lower brace to the Accent
Palette
- Added a preference to make brackets
stretchy by default
- Added additional <mfrac> property for
beveled to Layout Properties dialog
