MathType Works With ...
Equations Everywhere and Anywhere!™
MathType works with a huge number of applications
and web sites. For the most part, if you can imagine putting equations
in an application's documents, there is likely to be a way to do it.
MathType supports almost all major standards for
embedding equations in documents. Check the
MathType Interoperability Registry for more information about using
MathType with your favorite applications. If you don't find your
application in the Registry, consult the General Techniques
section below, you will find more information on how to get the best
results using MathType with applications supporting common math
exchange technologies.
If you have trouble using MathType with a particular application or web site,
or would like to suggest an application or web site you would like to see work
better with MathType, please let us know by writing to
interop@dessci.com.
MathType Interoperability Registry
Cut and Paste and Drag and Drop "just work" between MathType and many
applications. In other cases, a few extra steps may be necessary. You can check the Master List of
applications and websites known to work with MathType below to see if there are
any tips specific to your favorite applications.

The information below describes how MathType works with applications and websites that support standards for exchange of math formulas.
MathType Mac Users
MathType Mac 6.0 supports the same standards for embedded equations in
documents as MathType Windows 6.5, and also works with a large number of
applications and web sites. However, technologies such as Insert Object
are much less widely used on the Macintosh (primarily by Microsoft Office
applications) and details for using MathType with a specific application can
differ between Mac and Windows versions.
Over the next several months, we will be adding information to the Master
Interoperability Registry specifically for MathType Mac users. We will
also be making available downloads for MathType Mac that add support for working
with specific applications that have been added in MathType Windows 6.5, but are
not yet part of the MathType Mac 6.0 distribution. Check this page for
updates, or subscribe to our Design Science
News
blog to receive updates as they are announced.
Couldn't Find your Application or Web Site?
If you have trouble using MathType with a particular application or web site,
or would like to suggest an application or web site you would like to see work
better with MathType, please let us know by writing to
interop@dessci.com. We are constantly adding support for new
applications and sites, and we welcome suggestions.
If you are technically inclined, you may be interested in developing your own
interoperability solutions between MathType and your favorite applications. For information on how to get started, please
